27 professional artists were sent a mini canvas (thanks to @winsorandnewton and @tfacuk), to do with as they wished. These pieces will form our exhibition alongside Year 2 Fine Art students' efforts. But will you be able to guess who is behind the lot numbers??? Exhibition and bidding go live on 23rd Oct. Lots will be numbered and posted this day.
My canvas is created from an advert for Nike Airs, I was interested in how they use a person's reaction of happiness to sell a product rather than the actual shoes, this is because people are more influenced by the people around them and what they think, so therefore these shoes must be good. I decided to twist up the image a bit and place a collection of shoes emerging from the mouth of the model to give a more vulgar effect on such an innocent picture. The name arose from the idea that materialistic items will not make you feel any happier than you already do, no matter how much you think it will.
Update: We raised a massive £2971 from the auction!
